The courses "Assessing Digital Learning (5315)" and "Synthesis of Digital Learning (5320)" mark the culmination of my journey in the applied digital learning program. Over the past few weeks, I have found immense motivation in the realization that these courses represent the synthesis of all the work I have undertaken throughout the program. Despite facing challenges in my personal life during this period, I persevered. This time, however, I felt a more pronounced impact from my circumstances. Nevertheless, I stand here, on the verge of completing my final assignment.
In the course Assessing Digital Learning, I had the opportunity to develop an action research plan. The primary objective of conducting action research is to evaluate the effectiveness of my innovation plan upon implementation, ensuring it yields a successful impact. This process allows for necessary adjustments to be made as required. Additionally, I completed a literature review to substantiate my action research plan. I believe this approach will serve as an effective means of identifying areas of success and aspects requiring modification or further focus during the piloting phase of my implementation.
The final course of the program "Synthesis of Digital Learning (5320)" provided an invaluable opportunity to reflect on my learning and development throughout the pursuit of this degree. I can now appreciate how each class interconnects, facilitating a cohesive approach to effecting change. Engaging with the COVA (Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authenticity) framework throughout this course was initially perplexing, but it ultimately resonated with me and enhanced my learning experience.
This course also allowed me to revisit my innovation project, enabling me to implement revisions based on the knowledge I have gained since the program's inception. Furthermore, I was able to synthesize the various components of this program, recognizing how each contributes to my future role as a change leader in the field of education.
Throughout both courses, I had the privilege of collaborating with peers such as Samara Marin, Mia Fayweather, Maria Montemayor, and Stephanie Wells. Samara established a group chat on Teams, which facilitated our communication throughout the program. This platform allowed me to seek advice and feedback from my peers, ask for assistance when necessary, and recognize that I was navigating this program with a supportive group that was always willing to empathize with my challenges.
During the courses, I diligently completed all reading assignments, viewed all instructional videos, and participated in recorded classes, striving to meet deadlines to the best of my ability. However, my primary struggle has been with the discussion posts. Due to time constraints, I often prioritized larger assignments over these posts. Although the discussion questions were designed to encourage forward-thinking and foster peer feedback, I found that the feedback exchanged through our Teams chat was sufficient for my needs. Consequently, I placed the discussion posts on the back burner, resulting in delays in their completion.
Considering my performance in courses 5315 and 5320, I would assign myself a grade of 85 out of 100.This self-assessment reflects my commitment and perseverance throughout the program, but also acknowledges the areas where I can improve. Looking back, I realize that the skills and insights I gained—particularly in collaboration and adaptability—are invaluable assets as I move forward in my professional journey.
